Tumbleweed Tiny Houses

Tumbleweed Tiny Houses are beautifully designed and highly functional thanks to some clever designing. Below are just a few pics  of the cute houses they build.

The company was founded by Jay Shafer, who built a tiny house for himself in 1997. A lot of people expressed interest in it, so he began designing and building them for others who want to live a simpler life.

He says, “My decision to inhabit just 96 square feet arose from some concerns I had about the impact a larger house would have on the environment, and because I do not want to maintain a lot of unused or unusable space. My houses have met all of my domestic needs without demanding much in return. The simple, slower lifestyle my homes have afforded is a luxury for which I am continually grateful.”

I found this via Living Small: Tumbleweed Tiny Houses « Hooked on Houses. Check that link out if you’d like to see more pictures.

I really like the interior and exterior look of the homes – nice details, great looking products and wish we had some in California.

I also build small homes here in Oregon. I enjoy the Tumbleweed Tiny Houses but they are severely small inside. My houses all have a full size bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living/dining room, all in 325 square feet. Check them out and if you have any comment or questions, don’t hesitate to email me.

Hi Gina, California, especially the Bay Area, has a ton of small space living residences! San Francisco and New York are the leading cities for the movement :)

Walt, Small Home Oregon looks like some beautiful homes! I’d love to get a tour of one!!

I think these homes are the best thing for the environment, start-up’s and retirement and cannot wait for an opportunity to downsize to an Ernesti – it appears to be beautiful, compact and everything one could ever hope for – any chance we can have a demo in NJ?
