This past Christmas, while living in California, I rented a live tree from an orchard in Big Sur. They had several species to choose from and many sizes as well, all already potted. you just picked which kind and size, either over their website or in person at their location across the road from the ocean, and then you can either drive it home or have them deliver it. I hauled mine home in my truck but opted to let them pick it up. They even let me keep it a little longer so that I could have it up for Serbian Christmas (usually around Jan 6th). It was a great experience to have a real, live tree in my home for the holidays without having the guilt of either having to chop it up for firewood or it simply being thrown out onto the street afterwards. It's great to know that the five ft tall tree you had in your living room will be someone's six ft tree next year. Also, for someone like me, who grew up with the Michigan forest all around, it was way better than having a plastic tree. I will do some searching to see if I can find any companies that rent trees out here in Oregon and so if anyone is interested, I'll post the info when the season draws closer.
