Thursday, March 5th, 2009
Damin Tarlow is at it again, but this time on the cover of the Daily Journal of Commerce.
Gerding Edlen, along with SERA Architects and GBD Architects, has been selected to perform a feasibility study for the Sustainability Center of Excellence in Portland.
From the DJC article:
A selection committee concluded that the Gerding Edlen team is best positioned to do the project. “After lengthy deliberations, debate and discussion the committee unanimously agreed that Gerding Edlen Development is the most qualified and experienced team to deliver this complicated project within the schedule and meet as many objectives as are likely to be met for this ambitious project – such as satisfying LEED platinum and the Living Building Challenge,” the committee said in its notice of intent to award, released Wednesday.

Ian is living on display in our model apartment
Friday, February 20th, 2009At Ignite Portland last night we shared the news that Ian Johnson will be living on display in our showroom apartment. He’ll be there for two to three days per week for three months! Don’t worry, it’s not David Blane style. Ian brought his guitar and plans to host a few events.
We’ll be posting updates on this blog and Ian will be giving us live updates of his life inside the sales center. I’ve got some videos of Ian giving me a tour of the space he’ll be occupying, which I’ll post on Monday.
Damin’s Ignite Portland 5 talk: To Suck or Blow? It’s really a matter of energy
Thursday, February 19th, 2009
Damin Tarlow is the project lead on Cyan and just presented at Ignite Portland on the environmental impact of buildings. He is concerned about getting on Twitter, so please drop him a comment encouraging him to join!! He’s a super smart guy and has a lot of unique perspectives to offer.
Gerding Edlen, developers of Cyan, are passionate about green building, so much so that they have more green buildings than employees. But, the LEED rated projects that they built their reputation on, are just the beginning for them. This blog is opening them to the conversation, so if you want to see more of GED online, say so below.

Cyan PDX is sponsoring Ignite Portland
Friday, January 30th, 2009
On February 19th, Ignite Portland will deliver its fifth show, which will be held at the Bagdad Theatre. If you’re not familiar with Ignite Portland, let us take a moment to share what the buzz is all about.
The Ignite series was started by the O’Reilly media group and has grown into an international phenomena with dozens of cities around the globe organizing local events. The format of the event is 13 speakers who get 5 minutes each and 20 slides to share interesting topics ranging from How to buy a car for under $1,000 to Why Deutschland Loves David Hasselhoff to Cup Noodle: Innovation, Inspiration, and Manga. Organized by a local non-profit known as the Legion of Tech, Ignite has been a sold-out show for each of the previous four events. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. The tickets are free, and are generally gone within hours of their release!
We’re a sponsor for the fifth appearance of this series, which has had a record 80 submissions for the coveted 13 spots. Because the freely available tickets are claimed within hours of the event, leave us a comment below if you’d like us to notify you the second they are available. Make sure you include your email address in the email field below!!
