Today is the inaugural “Earth Day Art” event at South Waterfront, at the end of Pennoyer Street where it meets the Willamette River. A rendering of the sustainable art sculpture by Buster Simpson that will be installed at South Waterfront will be presented to the “surprise” honoree. The sculpture is based on the bows of two Liberty Ships, one of which is shown here. This event will kick off subsequent annual events each Earth day where sustainable art will be dedicated to a leader in the sustainability effort in Portland and installed around the city.
Please join us for the kickoff of this annual event! Parking is limited to street parking in the area. Streetcar access to South Waterfront stops at SW Bond & Lane, stop #12882. Greenway bicycle path leads you right to the event.
